If the IDX Broker MCP, is not behaving, start here. The first check is always the same: ask your assistant "Is my IDX connection working?" That runs the status check, called idx_status. Still stuck? Email support@virtualresults.net.
What the status check colors mean
- Green: ready.
- Yellow: connected with limits. A common example is that no MLS is approved yet, so MLS data is empty.
- Red: not connected. Either no key is saved or the saved key is not valid.
The report also shows whether the key is valid, which IDX Broker API version is in use, whether leads, saved links and widgets are readable, which MLS approvals exist, and how much of the hourly limit has been used.
Symptoms and likely causes
Red, or "not connected"
No key is saved, or it is invalid. Reconnect it by pasting the key or asking for a private setup link. See the connect guide. If you rotated or revoked the key in IDX Broker, status stays red until a new key is saved.
"That does not look like an IDX Broker access key"
The assistant expects 22 characters of letters, numbers, _, @ and -. You pasted something else. Copy the access key from IDX Broker again.
"This account isn't set up yet", or a 403 at sign-in
Your organization has not been granted access. Sign up if you have not yet (sign-up link), or contact support.
Hourly limit reached
IDX Broker allows roughly 300 calls per hour per key on a rolling hour, and about three times that for partner-enabled accounts. Wait and retry. Large lists and bulk work use more calls.
Yellow, with empty MLS data
MLS approval is not complete for that account. Sold data is empty when the account is not approved for sold data. Missing figures are reported as no data, never as zero.
Tools or features are missing
Reconnect the connector or start a new chat. Existing chats keep the old tool list.
"Still working" on a slow request
Do not repeat the request. The assistant checks on it. If a status check says the sign-in service was unreachable, nothing was changed, so it is safe to retry.
A lead name is rejected
IDX Broker accepts only letters, spaces and hyphens in lead names.
A search filter seems ignored, such as 3+ bedrooms returning everything
The assistant uses IDX Broker's own field names, such as bd, lp, hp, tb and sqft. It should reject bare names like bedrooms and warn if filters may not apply. If results look too broad, ask the assistant to list the valid search fields first, then rebuild the criteria.
"Company name, website, broker on record or country can't change"
IDX Broker accepts those updates but does not apply them through the API. Change them in the IDX Broker dashboard. The same goes for the main account email.
Social Pro says it is not active
The Social Pro add-on is not on that IDX Broker account.
MLS-wide search says the account is not under the partnership
Expected. MLS-wide listing search is limited to accounts under Virtual Results' IDX partnership. Your own listings still work.
What the result words mean
created, updated, deleted: the change was read back and verified.created_unverifiedor another_unverifiedresult: it probably worked but the read-back failed. A newly created supplemental listing can take roughly 5 to 20 seconds to appear.update_not_applied: IDX Broker accepted the call but nothing changed.no_changes: your request matched what was already there.published_unverified: always the result for Social Pro posts, because there is no read-back. Check the post on your social accounts.
Intermittent errors on reads can happen when IDX Broker returns an error page. Reads are retried once automatically, so asking again is reasonable.
When to contact support
Email support@virtualresults.net with what you asked, what the assistant answered, and the status check color. Do not send your IDX Broker key in the email.
