Disconnect the IDX Broker MCP: Remove Access and Your Key

How to disconnect the IDX Broker MCP from Claude or ChatGPT, remove or replace your IDX Broker key, and ask Virtual Results to remove your access.

This guide covers how to disconnect the IDX Broker MCP: remove the connector from your AI app, remove or replace your IDX Broker key, and ask for your organization's access to be removed. Some steps are generic on purpose, because the exact menus in Claude, ChatGPT and IDX Broker change.

What disconnecting does and does not do

Your leads, saved links, widgets and listings live in your IDX Broker account. Removing the connection should not delete them. If you want something deleted, ask for that specifically and note that deletes in IDX Broker have no undo.

1. Remove the connector from your AI app

In your assistant's connector settings, remove the custom connector you added. This stops that app from using the IDX Broker MCP. It does not by itself remove your stored key.

2. Remove your IDX Broker key

Your key is stored encrypted for your organization. To remove it:

  1. Ask your assistant for a private setup link: "Connect my IDX Broker account. I'd rather not paste the key in chat."
  2. Open the link and sign in. The link works once and expires in 10 minutes.
  3. On the settings page, use the option to remove the key.

There is no chat command that removes a key, so the settings page is the route. Only organization admins can do this.

3. Replace or rotate the key instead

If you only want to change keys, create a new one in IDX Broker, then give the new key to the assistant or the settings page. The new key is tested before anything is overwritten, so a bad key never replaces a working one. After a key is changed or revoked in IDX Broker, the status check shows red until a new key is saved.

4. Revoke the key at IDX Broker

To make a key stop working at the source, regenerate or change it in your IDX Broker dashboard. Check IDX Broker's own documentation for the exact steps, because this guide does not cover their menus.

5. Ask Virtual Results to remove your organization's access

There is no self-serve control for this yet. Email support@virtualresults.net and ask for your organization's access to the IDX Broker MCP to be removed. If you want your stored data deleted or have questions about retention, ask support in the same message.

Confirm it worked

Ask any assistant that still has the connector: "Is my IDX connection working?" A red result means the key is gone or not connected. Then check IDX Broker to confirm the data you care about is intact.
